The Sensor Meter is an incident light meter that uses the ambient light sensor in your device to calculate exposure. Using this correctly will give you an accurate measurement of the light falling on your subject.
If you haven’t already watched the tutorial on light meters, please do that now.
The Sensor Meter can use any of the ambient light or proximity sensors on your camera. Generally you only want to use the ambient light sensors as proximity sensors are not accurate.
If you want to use a different sensor than the one selected by default, select that sensor in the dropdown.
Usually the sensors are physically located top and center on the face of your device.
Point the face of your device directly towards the brightest light source falling on your subject. Once you’ve found the brightest point, stop metering.
On Android devices, you can use the volume buttons to stop and start metering.
Metering this way takes some practice, and the performance of individual devices may vary. If photos are consistently over or under exposed, you can adjust the exposure using manual adjustments.
