This lecture is all about Querying with Apache Drill Across Multiple Databases where we have loaded the data in MongoDB and Hive and query it on Apache Drill to run JOIN operation. Below are the commands to get the required data files and scripts for this lecture. Also you can refer the installation steps given below to setup the Drill on your HDP Sandbox.

hadoop fs -mkdir /user/maria_dev/mongodb

hadoop fs -copyFromLocal movies.user /user/maria_dev/mongodb/movies.user

wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ashaypatil11/hadoop/main/mongospark.py

export SPARK_MAJOR_VERSION=2

spark-submit --packages org.mongodb.spark:mongo-spark-connector_2.11:2.3.2 mongospark.py

cd apache-drill-1.12.0

bin/drillbit.sh start -Ddrill.exec.port=8765

In the previous lecture we have seen installing Apache Drill on HDP Sandbox where we have downloaded the .tar file for Drill 1.12.0 version which is suitable for Apache Hive which is preinstalled on our HDP Sandbox and then we have started the Drill service on the specified port to get access for Drill through the web browser. We have also enabled the MongoDB and Hive services and configured the Apache Hive Metastore URL.

Below are the commands to install Drill on the HDP Sandbox:

su root

wget http://archive.apache.org/dist/drill/drill-1.12.0/apache-drill-1.12.0.tar.gz

tar -xvf apache-drill-1.12.0.tar.gz

cd apache-drill-1.12.0

bin/drillbit.sh start -Ddrill.exec.port=8765

if above doesn't work give this (bin/drillbit.sh start -Ddrill.exec.http.port=8765 )

For setting up hive give in update like:

"hive.metastore.urls": "thrift://localhost:9083"
