Create a custom Raspberry OS Image [.img] (Windows & Linux)

In this video, I'm going to show you how to create a custom Raspberry OS Image (.img file), with 2 different procedures on Windows (with WSL) and Linux.

First method (executed on windows)
With this procedure, we will make an image of all sd card partition, after will be shrinked. The final .img file, can be rewrite on a new micro sd card and on first boot will be automatically resized about partition size.

Pishrink command used (see official github repo for more info):

sudo apt-get install gparted
wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Drewsif/PiShrink/master/pishrink.sh
sudo chmod 777 pishrink.sh
sudo mv pishrink.sh /usr/local/bin/
close and reopen wsl2
cp /mnt/c/windows/path/to/your/img /home/username
chmod 777 filename.img
pishrink.sh filename.img filename_NEW.img
chmod 777 filename_NEW.img
cp filename_NEW.img /mnt/c/windows/path/

*Note: Wsl 2 is only compatible with Windows 10 version from 1909 to latest (you can check wsl machine version with command "wsl -l -v").
If you don't have compatible OS version, for Step 5 you can use a normal Linux machine or also a vm.

Second method (executed on linux)
With this procedure, we will make directly a resized image of sd card active partitions. The .img file, can be rewrite on a new micro sd card and with raspi-config you can manually resize rootfs partition.

Commands used to clone sd card active partitions (can be different depending on your sd card size and linux distro):

sudo fdisk -l
sudo fdisk -l /dev/sdb/
sudo dd if=/dev/sdb of=filename.img bs=num_block_size count=num_count

**Note: to disable automatic resize partition before first boot of raspberry os, enter on the boot partition and open cmdline.txt
After remove "quiet init=/usr/lib/raspi-config/init_resize.sh" and save.
