Light Apprentice Book 1 (PC_STEAM)

I have the privledge of getting an advance copy of the game before the Nov release date, so instead in saying in the video ,I'll do a quick review it here (without any or limited spoilers)

The game is an action turned based RPG that goes with a comic book feel (not rare but you don't see much in games nowadays). You can use either the mouse of controller with works well (it doesn't matter as i use the mouse.

As you can control of the game, you technically don't move your characters around like rpgs but you use the click command to venture from panel to panel,fighting enemies and or solve puzzles (at this point in the game not hard ones, just find and item and go back a screen or two to advance)

The battles here are of course turned based and in the early game it gives a tutorial on how it works. You get attack, defend, use items and skill commands, most of them you have to play a mini game to do damage, heal or buffing.

What is different than most games is that characters share a "skill meter'". Based on what you do ir an enemy does, it goes up by 1, and you need a certain amount to cast it like Heal or Cheer.Once you decided, that skill requirement is used it and you have to do the process. At this time, the max is 10, so it very vital in some fights for survival. Also, using skills (not sure all of them) does not waste a turn, so you can heal and defend all in one turn. Very important.

Most of the battles require some good tactics on your part,depending now only the kind of enemy your facing, but the condition of your party members are, whether if they are low HP, or don't have the right items equipped on them. the littlest things can make a difference. Luckily, if you get defeated, you can always retry the battle, so that is a big plus if you want to avoid the battle or try something different.

The big factor in this game is the story. At the beginning of the game, you get thrown from panel to panel watching characters interact with either,their surroundings and themselves. Trust me, it is very interesting on what the outcome is. There is even a moment ala Final fantasy but again, I won't spoil it..:p

Graphics are well done, (since I do read comics myself), it uses a clean style that is pleasing to the eye (almost a cuteness to them), so you don't have to squint to find what is going on and pondering (WTH is going on). Well done is also the music (check) and sounds, so you don't have to be bored on the battles

Overall, I found the game to be quite entertaining in all areas, especially the story,where playing an rpg(sque) game you need a good story to continue. Consider this only book 1, I look forward for the rest of them. Definitely pick it up.
