Now that we are getting towards the end of the year, some of you may be planning to make some New Years resolutions. Maybe raise your GPA, new health goals or even learn a new programming language for 2021. I am no master of programming languages, but over the course of my 4 years as a math computer science major at UCSD, and now my full time job as a Technical Program Manager at Microsoft, I have some comfortable experience in a variety of programming languages. So if you are looking to learn a new programming language for 2021, here are some of my thoughts an experiences (and how I rank them on tier list, because that's always more fun).

When starting your computer science journey, picking a programming language is a major step. There are many different computer science paths. If you start out taking AP Computer Science in highschool, you'll likely start with Java. If you are transitioning from another field or learning coding for the first time and not in college, Python is an incredibly popular option. Whatever your computer science and programming journey is, hopefully this programming language tier list will help you out a little bit.

Remember that all of the rankings of the programming languages on this tier list are just my opinions (so take them with a grain of salt).
