Python for Blender - Modifiers

Part 1: Introduction

In this part of the course, we will make sure your scene and environment are prepared for efficient geometry generation. This includes cleaning up any redundant objects in a substantiated method.

Part 2: Generation Preparation

Before diving in the code head first, I took my time to explain the problem that we are trying to solve. By going through it step by step manually, we are able to structure our script before writing any code. This allows us to work very efficiently.

Part 3 & 4: Adding modifiers

During these parts we will look at the different methods of creating and assigning modifiers to objects. We will have a look at the possibilities and how to identify them.

Part 5: The math function library

I will give an overview of the integrated Python console with an easy to follow example. This chapter is really valuable for the people who are new to Python / Scripting in general.

Part 6: Baking the modifiers

In this part of the course we will bake the modifiers into our geometry. While this is somewhat destructive, it does allow for some interesting possibilities.

Part 7: Code Separation

Lastly, we will go in depth into Python functions. At the beginning of this chapter I stimulate you to try cleaning up the script yourself. Afterwards, I go over all techniques to abstract and isolate your code base in reusable chunks.

In the end you will have a very nice piece of geometry that is set up in a very modular way. Any changes can be made with ease by you, the creator. Please try to be creative and add a unique twist! I would love to see your take on this course. The sky is the limit! You can now apply any modifier onto any piece of geometry
