How To Load A Chunk In Minecraft - Simple and Easy (Java)

In this video, I'm going to show you how to load a chunk anywhere in the world without complicated redstone chunk loaders in Java Edition.

This is perfect for singleplayer worlds, where you don’t have much time to AFK, but still want a farm to function when you’re not in the area.

First, we have to go to the Minecraft game files.
To find it, go to your user folder and show “Hidden Items”. Then go to “AppData” - “Roaming” - “.minecraft” - “versions”.

Copy the version of Minecraft that you plan to use.

Change the name of the duplicated folder (for example, add “- AFK” to the end of the version).

Copy the same name into the JSON and Jar files.

Open the JSON file in Notepad

Search for the version number and replace it with the same name as before.

At the very beginning of the file, you should see ${auth_player_name}. Replace this with another name (for example, AFK).

Save and close.

Open the Minecraft Launcher

Go to “Installations” - “New”

Name the installation (AFK - Chunk Loader)

Click the version dropdown menu and find the release that you just created.

Click Create

Now you should see it in the play menu.

To use the AFK Chunk Loader, you must first open your regular version of Minecraft. (for me, I use a fabric loader so that I can play with a controller, but yours should look like a regular version number - e.g. 1.16.4)

Open the world that you want to load a chunk in and pause the game.

Open Minecraft Launcher again and play the AFK version that you made in the previous step.

On the first game, click “Open to LAN” - “Start LAN World”.

On the second game (AFK), go to “Multiplayer” and join the LAN World.

Travel to the area where the farm is that you want to keep loaded.

Feel free to minimize one of the games at a time for full enjoyment. Split screen is not required. I only show it for demonstration purposes.

Once the second player is in the AFK spot, your normal character can do whatever you want.
This allows the farm to stay loaded so you can automatically gain resources while you’re doing something else.
