Viking Dishwasher Problems

I need your assistance with Viking dishwasher problems.

There was a Viking dishwasher recall due to electrical problems that caused some of them to catch fire.

I’m glad that’s not a problem I’m dealing with. When did this happen?

It was a recall for dishwashers made in 2010, though it was not all model numbers.

My dishwasher is not that old, which makes all these problems all the more frustrating.

The silverware baskets on them fall apart before it is a year old. And that’s assuming the rust doesn’t start to stain the dishes.

I have problems with the Viking dishwasher not cleaning well, but don’t think it is due to that.

The start buttons break down faster than you’d think they would.

If that was the worst problem I had, it wouldn’t have a problem with the repair. Buttons are cheap.

They all have problems drying dishes even if they manage to wash the dishes well.

I’ve heard jokes that you need to invest in dish cloths after you buy this dishwasher.

The plastic latch breaks a lot too.

That can prevent it from working.

Or cause it to flood because it comes loose or breaks while the unit is running. Their dishwashers have weak plastic at all the stress points.

This is stressing me out.

To be fair, their control panels have problems too.

The cost to replace a control panel including labor costs about as much as a new dishwasher.

You can try to reset it a couple times to try to get it to finish the job.

Via pushing buttons on the control panel or the circuit breaker?

The utensil baskets usually fall apart in a couple months, and the control panels often break before the unit is two years old. Hitting buttons hoping to reset it may contribute to the latter.

That’s a problem. And their brand specific replacement parts make it costly, even if just replacing the thing that holds your silverware.

These dishwashers take a long time to clean dishes, even when it does work.

If it did even a mediocre job, I’d be okay with a wait. It takes less time than me waiting for someone else to do the dishes.

Then you’ll hate waiting up to a week for a Viking authorized repair person to come in to fix it under warranty, though customer service is eager to sell you an extended warranty while you wait.

That means I’m washing dishes by hand for quite a while.

And washing dishes every couple months within a few months of buying it.

That’s a problem.
