Drawing machine marker

This is another entry for what will likely be a long investigation into the world of the harmonograph. I do have plans to make videos of several other drawing machines related to harmonogram making, but here I am starting with the basics. This is somewhat of a teaser, and this small project is mandatory for what will follow.

It is important that you consider the following perspective when you watch these videos. The idea being expressed here is in no way suggesting that it is the best, a better, or even a valid approach to accomplishing anything. It is simply a sketch, like everything that I do. I share some of my sketches with you in the sincere hope that you will extend them into the realm of the useful. I myself assimilate and incorporate as many possible ideas that I can, often drawing on the smallest details of interest from another's collection of ideas, sorting through them, and applying them as liberally or as sparingly as I see fit, so that I may further my own manipulation of the world to suit my own goals or needs. The drawing machine presented here may quite possibly be a dead-end, beyond its capacity to draft an outline for an Acheulean hand-axe (which I do intend to make, directly inspired by Denis Dutton's conception of beauty, which is a brilliant extension of the Darwinian selection process), but this machine is not meant to be the purpose in and of itself; it is just an idea. It is for you to use- however you want, as a whole or in part, without expectation or demand. I just don't like reading "what the fuck is the point of that?" styled comments, when I have nothing else to offer you.

There are hundreds of how-to videos on every subject related to wood-work. From how to polish your micro-beveled bronzed plane, to how to build another table-saw sled, no stone has been left unturned. I could show you how to make a raised panel with a router, or how to do dimensional analysis for chemistry conversions, but why? You can look those up anywhere. Here, I just want to share my sketches... and I hope you can implement them, to make your own sketches better.
