Course description
The course will take you through JavaScripts object model and functional elements, giving you a solid understanding of how JavaScript really works. Through a series of practical assignments this understanding is put to use by implementing reusable code using idiomatic JavaScript patterns.
The course will focus first and foremost on JavaScript as a programming language and how to use it effectively. Practical work and examples will illustrate how to apply this knowledge to browser scripting. Unit testing and test--driven development is promoted through--out the course and in exercises.

Overview
A three day course covering JavaScript, how to test it and to some extent, browser scripting.

Pre--requisites
Delegates should be proficient with some other programming language(s)
Delegates will benefit from experience with web applications
Experience with unit testing in other languages is helpful but not required

Exercises require a text editor and browser of the delegates choice.

About the instructor
Originally a student in informatics, mathematics, and digital signal processing,Christian Johansen has spent his professional career specializing in web and front--end development with technologies such as JavaScript, CSS, and HTML using agile practices.
Christian has years of experience building simple and complex web applications for small as well as large companies. His speciality is JavaScript and agile methodologies applied to it, but also a proficient programmer with experience from other languages such as Ruby, Java, the Android platform and more. Christian loves loosely coupled reusable code and is a passionate TDD practitioner.
Christian published his first book, "Test--Driven JavaScript Development" in September 2010 through Addison--Wesley.
