Lesson 16: How To Fix Doodly Javascript Error

I get asked all the time about how to fix the Doodly Javascript Error. I’m gonna address this issue in this tutorial. It’s such a simple fix that I’m embarrassed to admit that it took me some brainstorming to figure it out when I first came across it. If you have been using Doodly for a while then you have undoubtedly come across a Doodly Javascript Error that looks like this. If you’ve never come across this error message that’s great. However, give me two minutes of your time in the event you should come across it one day.

Does this screen look familiar to you?

When I first encountered this screen I tried closing the app and restarting it.
When that didn’t work, I tried shutting my computer down and restarting it.
When that didn’t work, I tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling it.
When that didn’t work, I tried doing a search on YouTube because surely I’m not the only one to experience this issue.
And when that didn’t work either, because there was not one single video on this subject.
I decided to click on this “Help” button and just ask the customer support team how to solve this problem.

I landed on this frequently asked questions page. Then I typed “Doodly Javascript Error” here in the search box and was redirected here.

It says:

If you receive a Doodly Javascript Error message such as the one below, the Doodly software was not able to reach the server.

The Doodly software is a hybrid web-based and desktop application that requires an active internet connection. Many times when our members experience the error above, it is likely caused by one of two things:

Internet Connection Speed - A slow, weak signal, may cause the software to function slowly, or not respond at all. Or
Internet Security Issues - A secured public network may not allow downloads.
The bottom line here is you are more likely than not offline if and when this message occurs. I want you to do the following:

Close the Doodly App
Connect your device to the internet
Reopen the Doodly App

If you do that, you should be OK. Like I told you in an earlier lesson, when I first started using the Doodly software I had a very spotty and poor internet connection. It was no fault of my own. I live in a rural area and the internet service for my location was slow and unpredictable. I still live at that same location but I have since switched over to “Starlink” internet service and now my service is great.
So, if you come across a Doodly Javascript Error. Don’t panic and don’t waste a bunch of time chasing your tail like I did. Plain and simple, it’s your internet. Connect to the internet and keep it moving forward.
