How to Use COUNT Function in Excel

In this Excel Function Explained video series, I’ll simplify how to use Count function in excel. Excel Count function is frequently used to Count How many cells have numbers in excel excel. Using Count function, you’ll be able to find out if a cell contains numbers or not inside a Data range. It doesn’t matter if your data range is formatted as text or number. You’ll be able to use count to count the numbers.

Let’s learn how to use Count formula in excel without any delay.
The Function looks like this = COUNT (Value1, Value 2…)

The Count function has Only One parameter or argument.
1. Value: In this parameter, we need to specify the cell from where we need to Count if it has any numbers in it. You can use cell, cell range or even a combination of adjacent and distant cells and data range using comma as a separator. Also, you can add up to 255 values in this function.

Now there are Several points you need to remember before using this function.
1. Count function considers only number, decimal numbers and dates as numbers and count it for us.
2. It doesn’t consider blank cell, error message, text and numbers combined and only text.
3. It doesn’t matter if your data range is formatted as text or number, count function works just fine.

This is how we use Count in excel. Remember, using Count function in excel you actually tell excel formula to Count cells that has numbers inside it.
