Do you know how to upload your website to GitHub? Learn how to Upload your Website to GitHub | From PC to the Cloud - GitHub Code Storage. You've already created your website and all of the files are sitting on your local computer. Now you want to upload your project to GitHub. How do you get your website files up on GitHub using the command line?

1. Inside Command Prompt (or GitBash) navigate inside your project's folder and add a git init folder to prepare it to be place on GitHub

cd Websites/NameofYourWebsiteProject

2. To make sure you actually have a few files in that folder (at least index.html) type:

dir

3. Now prepare your project to be placed on GitHub by typing in GitBash:

git init

4. Next, go to GitHub and create a "Repo" for your website project. Be sure to NOT include a ReadMe, License or GitIgnore folder during set up. At the end of set up, you'll be transferred to a page that displays the newly created URL for your project on GitHub. Copy this onto your clipboard.

5. Go back to GitBash and type in:

git add .
git status
git commit -m "Uploading original files from local computer"
git remote add origin (and paste in that long URL you copied off of GitHub)
git remote -v
git push origin master

Congrats! All of your website files should now be on GitHub. To verify that, just go to the URL you were given for your project. Here is a link to mine: https://github.com/susanwinters214/BootCampWebsite
