Hey guys, this is the eighth video for my Python's tutorial course for beginners. We will be covering all the basics about Python including installing and setting up the development environment, variables, data structures, iterations, conditionals, operators, error handlings, functions, classes and many more. The aim for this tutorial is to provide with a solid foundation layer for Python and programming in general so that we can proceed to more advanced level Python tutorials and also look into different application areas of using Python such as web development and data science.

In this video, we are going to talk about conditional statements in Python. The conditional statements are one of the key component in programming because it allows us to create and apply various different logic inside our programming and thus serving as a decision making operations. As we've learned in Operators video, Python's conditional statements utilizes the expression that returns a boolean value in order to create a conditional statement. And it utilizes three keywords: if, elif, and else. The if and elif keywords takes an expression while else keyword does not. And when the boolean expression return True, Python will execute the code block below the expression. In this video, we will learn all the basics about Python's conditional statements as well as the difference between using the combinations of if, elif, else vs if, if, if to understand the mutually exclusive concept of the if and elif. Also, toward the end of the video, we will write a simple calculator program using Python's conditionals to perform basic arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
