Wanneer je een tweede set velgen hebt, bijvoorbeeld een set met zomerbanden en een set met winterbanden, dan hebben die elk hun eigen TPMS-sensors. Bij een wielenwissel moeten de TPMS-sensors opnieuw aangemeld worden bij de computer van de auto, ook wel inleren genoemd.

In deze video laat ik zien hoe dat in zijn werking gaat.

Het is vrij eenvoudig, maar je hebt wel een tooltje nodig om de computer te vertellen dat er andere TPMS-sensors moeten worden aangemeld.

Oke, hoe ga je te werk?

Start de auto normaal en ga naar de pijltjestoetsen aan de rechterkant op het stuur en ga naar het bandenspannings menu.

Druk nu minimaal tien seconden op de middelste (ok) knop totdat de melding verschijnt of je de bandenspanning opnieuw wilt laten zien. Het is een beetje een onlogische tekst, maar het komt er op neer of je de TPMS-sensors opnieuw wilt inleren.

Nadat je voor "ja" hebt gekozen hoor je twee keer een korte toeter en begint het knipperlicht linksvoor continu te branden ten teken dat je daar moet beginnen.

Ga naar het wiel linksvoor en houdt de "antenne" van de tool tegen de wang van de band naast het het ventiel en druk één keer kort op de knop.

Na ongeveer een seconde hoor je een korte toeter en gaat de richtingaanwijzer rechtsvoor continu branden ten teken dat het wiel rechtsvoor aan de beurt is. Doe hier hetzelfde met de tool en na opnieuw een toeter gaat het rechterachterknipperlicht branden en doe je hetzelfde bij het rechterachterwiel en als laatste het linkerachterwiel.

Als je het laatste wiel gedaan hebt hoor je twee korte toeters ter bevestiging dat de procedure voltooit is en ben je klaar!

It's pretty straight forward, but you'll need a tool to tell the computer which TPMS sensors you want it to (re)learn.

Okay, how do you proceed?

Start the car normally and go to the arrow keys on the right side of the steering wheel and go to the tire pressure menu.

Now press the middle (ok) button for at least ten seconds until the message appears whether you want to show the tire pressure again. It's a bit of a odd description, but it comes down to whether you want to relearn the TPMS sensors.

After you have chosen "yes" you will hear a short honk twice and the turn signal light in the front left starts to illuminate continuously to indicate that you should start there.

Go to the front left wheel and hold the "antenna" of the tool against the sidewall of the tire next to the valve and briefly press the button once. After about a second you will hear a short honk and the right front turn signal will illuminate continuously to indicate that the front right wheel is next. Do the same here with the tool and after another honk the right rear blinker lights up and do the same with the right rear wheel and finally the left rear wheel.

When you've done the last wheel and heard the confirming honk, you'll hear two honks confirming the procedure is completed and you're done!
