Synthetic data: a practical guide - Luca Gilli, CTO of Clearbox AI

This talk will give an introduction to the concept of synthetic data as a way to kick-start data science projects and overcome regulatory hurdles. We will dive into the topic by providing an overview of synthetic data, covering aspects such as its generation and quality evaluation. We will also spend some time discussing how to quantitatively ensure that synthetic data is safe from a privacy point of view. By the end of the talk, you will gain a practical understanding of real-world applications showcasing the advantages, challenges, and good practices of using synthetic data.

Bio:

Luca is the CTO of Clearbox AI, a startup offering synthetic data solutions. He holds a Ph.D. in computational mathematics from the Delft University of Technology. Before co-founding Clearbox, he worked as a research consultant and software development lead for a consultancy firm in the Netherlands, serving clients worldwide. Luca's expertise lies in uncertainty quantification, generative AI, and ML model assessment.
