Changing State in React : To make the state change, React gives us a setState function that allows us to update the value of the state. Calling setState automatically re-renders the entire component and all its child components. We don't need to manually re-render as seen previously using the renderContent function


Changes in state and/or props will both trigger a re-render of our React component. However, changes in state can only happen internally due to components changing their own state. Thus, a component can trigger changes in its own state. A component cannot change its props.


React components has a built-in state object. The state object is where you store property values that belongs to the component. When the state object changes, the component re-renders.



We have to set initial state value inside constructor function and set click event handler of the element upon which click, results in changing state. Then pass the function to the click handler and change the state of the component inside the function using setState.



React uses an observable object as the state that observes what changes are made to the state and helps the component behave accordingly. For example, if we update the state of any component like the following the webpage will not re-render itself because React State will not be able to detect the changes made.



state comes down to "who owns this data?" If data is managed by one component, but another component needs access to that data, you'd pass the data from the one component to the other component via props. If a component manages the data itself, it should use state and setState to manage it.
