Selection Sort is a simple sorting algorithm that repeatedly selects the smallest element from an unsorted list and swaps it with the leftmost element of the unsorted portion of the list. The algorithm maintains two sub-lists, one that is sorted and another that is unsorted. The algorithm proceeds by repeatedly finding the smallest element in the unsorted sublist and swapping it with the leftmost element in the unsorted sublist until the entire list is sorted.

Here's how the algorithm works:

1. Set the first element of the list as the minimum.
2. Compare the minimum element with the second element of the list. If the second element is smaller than the minimum, set the second element as the new minimum.
3. Continue this process until the end of the list is reached.
4. If the minimum element is not in its original position, swap it with the first element.
5. Repeat steps 2-4 for the remainder of the list, excluding the first element, which is now sorted.
6. Continue this process until the entire list is sorted.
