Why is my Java plug-in blocked?

You probably need to turn on the Java plug-ins to see if the issue is just the plug-ins or something else.

How do I do that?

At least you are not telling me to run Java Applets. Those are a security hole.

You might need to run Java Applets, too. That's more commonly required if the sites you visit have Java and Flash based games or engineering software that needs Java to render interactive models.

That is not a model of software interoperability. I have to turn on Java applets, Java plug-ins and who knows what else.

The solution might be upgrading your Java plug-ins. That's probably essential if you've upgraded your Java version or browser version.

Let's say I update the plug-ins, which I hope now won't be blocked. How could I tell if everything is finally operational short of going to a Java intensive site and praying the browser doesn't crash?
