When Trying To Be Ghost Rider Goes Wrong!!!

had just completed a traffic stop near the intersection of U.S. 63 and Sullens Road on Wednesday, February 22, 2024. At 8:55 I observed a motorcycle turn southbound from Sullens Road onto U.S. 63 and as I was turning around to travel back south, I noticed that the motorcycle did not appear to have any tags on it. It was at this time that I noticed that the motorcycle was accelerating. I activated my front radar in the same direction mode and locked the motorcycle in at 109 miles per hour. I activated my lights and siren and notified dispatch that I was in pursuit southbound on 63 toward Highway 91. The motorcycle passed through the intersection of U.S. 63 and State Highway 91 at speeds over 120 miles per hour. It was shortly after we cleared the intersection that the rider slowed down to around 100 miles per hour. When he slowed down, I was able to get close enough to get a better description of the operator, however, I noticed that he was taking his left hand off his hand grip and he was reaching inside the right breast pocket of his jacket. He would then speed up to over 120 miles per hour and then he would slow down a second time and repeat the process of reaching into his pockets. This second time he slowed down to under fifty miles per hour before speeding back up to over 120 miles per hour. Each time he did this he would create a large gap between us before I was able to catch back up to him. As we were approaching the Sedgwick city limits the operator slowed down again, this time to around 56 miles per hour. At this point, I pulled alongside him and attempted to force him over onto the shoulder of the roadway and get him to pull over. At 8:59, as I was moving over onto the shoulder, I felt a slight bump on my rear passenger’s side, and I saw the operator in my side view mirror lay his bike over into a yard. After the operator came to rest, I checked him for weapons and called for an ambulance to check him over. He complained of having left shoulder pain and he had some obvious road rash on his lower left leg. He was transported to St. Bernard’s in Jonesboro by Pro Med ambulance. He was discharged at 5:30 a.m. where I transported him to the Lawrence County Jail for several traffic charges as well as felony fleeing by conveyance, reckless driving, DWI drugs, and refusal to submit to the chemical test.
