Zoom meeting controls for participants

Hello, in this videos tutorial I will cover Gallery View, Speaker View, Audio and Video settings, Chat and Participants tab, Screen Sharing, meeting reactions and more.

GALLERY VIEW AND SPEAKER VIEW:

• Gallery view lets you see thumbnail displays of participants, in a grid pattern, which expands and contracts as participants join and leave the meeting.
• Speaker view focuses on whoever is speaking at the time.

To switch between Gallery View (seeing everyone) and the Speaker View, click the option in the top right corner (Speaker/Gallery view).
Galley view can display a different maximum number of participants on screen depending on what type of device is being used during the Zoom call.
1. Depending on your CPU, you can display up to 49 participants in a single screen of the gallery view. If more than 49 attendees are in the meeting, 49 thumbnails are displayed on each page.
2. iPads/tablets allow you to see up to 9 people on screen at a time.
3. Using Zoom via phone, you will only be able to see up to 4 people on screen at a time.

FULL SCREEN MODE:

To enter full-screen mode click ‘Enter Full Screen’ icon at the top-right hand corner. You can click this button again or click ‘escape’ to exit the full-screen mode.

AUDIO AND VIDEO SETTINGS:

To access your audio settings, click the up arrow to the right of the ‘Mute/Unmute’ button.

If you are having any issues with your sound, click ‘Test Speaker & Microphone’ which will walk you through a few steps to help you set up your audio.

To access your video settings, click the up arrow to the right of the Video button, and then click ‘Video Settings’. You can choose your virtual background here as well.

PARTICIPANTS LIST

Click ‘participants’ icon to view the participants list. Here you can rename yourself and to see all who are in the meeting.

Nonverbal feedback icons are also located there, including the ‘raise hand’ icon. Once your question has been answered click the hand icon once more to lower your hand.

CHAT

Chat allows you to message other participants.
To add a file into the chat, click ‘File’ and then select file location and click ‘Open’.

SCREEN SHARE

Click 'Share Screen' to Share your screen with others. You can select whether to share your entire desktop, specific application window or whiteboard.

When sharing a video, click ‘Share computer sound’ and ‘Optimise for full screen video clip’ before clicking 'Share'.

Screen-sharing will stop when you click the ‘Stop Share’ button.

MEETING REACTIONS

For more nonverbal feedback, you can use meeting reactions.
Here you can click the type of reaction you would like to send: clapping hands or thumbs up.

The reaction will display for 5 seconds at the top left-hand corner of your video display.

HIDE SELF VIEW

To hide your video from your own display right-click your video to display the menu, then choose ‘Hide Self View’.

To restore the video of yourself, right-click any visible user’s display to show the menu and choose ‘Show Self View’.

Using hide video function does not turn off your camera, it simply removes the video from your own display whilst allowing others to still see you. If you wish to turn your camera off, you will need to click ‘Stop Video’.
