GoodReader and CentreStack WebDAV Server Support for Editing Documents

Hi there. I’m Tom, Product Evangelist for CentreStack. And in this video, I want to show you how easy it is to setup a WebDAV server connection to your CentreStack folders and files.

CentreStack provides WebDAV Server Support primarily for Mobile Devices. This allows mobile applications like GoodReader on iOS devices to access and update files on the CentreStack cloud drive directly and ensures that the file changes will remain synchronized.
This is especially important with iOS devices like the iPhone and iPad, where applications do not directly communicate with other applications.

CentreStack has integrated WebDAV support to solve this. It does require you to have a valid SSL Certificate on the CentreStack server to take advantage of this feature. We are using GoodReader in this example of how to set it up.

So, this is what you see when you run the GoodReader application. To get started you hit the Connect button. And in the Servers section, you click the Add button to setup a new server. In the list that appears, choose WebDAV Server as your type.

Now simply fill in the details. For Readable Title, you can put anything; I’ll put “My server 2”. Then in the URL-address, enter your https server URL and at the end add “/dav”. Moving on to User and Password, just enter the credentials for the user that will be accessing the CentreStack Files.

That’s all there is to it. Just click Add at the top-right and you will be able to access this user’s CentreStack shared folders and files.

Finally, you just click the server you are connecting to and your files are available now for you to edit with GoodReader.

As you can see, setting up a WebDAV connection with an application like GoodReader on your iOS device is very straightforward.
