Implicit Type Conversion (Widening):

int num = 10;
double decimalNum = num; // Implicit conversion from int to double

In the above example, the int value 10 is implicitly converted to a double value 10.0 because a double can hold a larger range of values than an int.

Explicit Type Conversion (Narrowing):
Explicit type conversion, also known as casting, is required when you want to assign a value of a larger data type to a variable of a smaller data type. This conversion may result in data loss or truncation. To perform explicit type conversion, you need to specify the target data type in parentheses before the value being converted. For example:

double decimalNum = 10.5;
int num = (int) decimalNum; // Explicit conversion from double to int

In the above example, the double value 10.5 is explicitly converted to an int value 10 using casting. Since int cannot hold the decimal part, the fractional part is truncated.

It's important to note that type conversion can also occur between other data types, such as converting between numeric types, converting between characters and numbers, and converting between objects using inheritance or interface implementation.

However, it's crucial to handle type conversion carefully to avoid potential data loss or unexpected behavior. It's recommended to understand the range and limitations of different data types and use appropriate type conversion when needed in your Java programs.
