Hi and welcome to the Monospacer tutorial as we all know mono spacing is
most important with animated text so I've got some text here and I've got
digit Fiddler's I'm gonna add the time expression and now we can see our texts
is counting the time this phone here is Rubik which is a variable with font and
that's causing the shifting of all these characters based on their widths so that
looks really bad.

Let's fix it with mono spacer let's apply mono spacer here and
we can see that each character is in its own colored world except for the colon
the colon is not correct it's split up into two separate worlds so I want to do
is increase the X threshold until they are unified.


Once that's done let's change the character size to put it back to the
size that it was and just note that increasing the tracking here allows us
to get a very clean separation of the characters so I recommend increasing the
tracking before applying mono spacer you can of course remove the tracking
afterwards using this tracking here so this looks good except for the colon the
colon is a thin character but it's taking up the same amount of space as
the other characters so I'm gonna fix that by going on a custom size the colon
is the third character so I set the index to 3 and then make that a bit
smaller that looks better it's important to note that all these settings here are
based on the scale of the layer and not the character size.

So if you've got these settings you're happy with them but you want to change the size of the
layer don't change the font size that's going to ruin everything change the
scale and then it's gonna go smoothly and once we're happy with this we can
remove the guide and see that our text is perfectly stable every character
stays in its own little box and the text looks beautiful.


Monospacer is compatible with 3d text however it's not going to work if the
layer moves on the z axis as well as any kind of rotation is just not going to
work so what you'll need to do with that is pre-compose your mono space text and
then you can apply your 3d transformations with no issues when a
spacer also works with a vertical text so let's come into this example here and
we can see that we've got some time but this time the text is vertical and the
problem with this is again the colons aren't sighs as the characters so they look like they're bit uneven but no worries we can fix that with Monospacer let's apply it here and let's change the mode to vertical now again the colons need to be put into their own world so this time
we'll be using the Y threshold until they snap to correct that looks good now
let's just increase the character size the character size now refers to the
height of the character and let's remove the guide looks perfect
if we compare we can see that it's not even before but now with mono spacer it
is perfectly even so that's about it I hope you enjoy using mono spacer and
