MathEditor: A Screen Reader Compaitable Math Equation Editor for Visual Studio Code.
To make web content accessible to the visually impaired, the content needs to be read out by a screen reader, at a minimum. In case of reading out mathematical constructs in a meaningful manner, the screen reader needs to have a representation of the construct in a prescribed structure as its input; generally that in the form of LaTeX code. However, it has been observed that lack of / limited knowledge of LaTeX or a similar language among developers often force them to adapt alternate means of representing math in the web, creating huge difficulties for screen readers to read out the equation from the screen in the intended manner; thus making math inaccessible to the blind. MathEditor is a plugin of Visual Studio Code, aimed to facilitate web content developers to edit complex math equations and generate its equivalent LaTeX, AsciiMath, and MathML code that can be directly used in the web page code. This will enable screen readers to perform at ease and read out math for the blind, in a desired way.
