This Hunt Showdown gameplay video highlights several aspects of spotting players (even with some spotting assist by means of magnification and explanation), tracking and ambushing. It explains in depth what can help you spot players, what can help you track their path and how you can set up an ambush. It's sort of an advanced guide, if you will, which can help both beginners and more experienced players alike.
