I need to learn SQL programming for beginners.

You can take SQL server training from Microsoft as well as take exams to earn certifications.

Those courses usually cost as much as Microsoft licenses to run SQL.

SQLZoo.net has several exercises to learn SQL, but it may not teach the true basics well enough for you.

If it is free, I’m certainly willing to try it. I know nothing now.

You might like SQLCourse dot com, which teaches not only the basics of the language and instructions you use but an online SQL interpreter.

I think the site makes more money off the database administrator jobs linked to the site. You could use 1KeyData.com and its list of basic SQL statements, SQL functions and information on the data definition language.

At least I know a DDL is different than a DLL.

And I do not think you know what either actually does. One of the points for 1KeyData dot com is the SQL quiz, that tests how well you know the concepts and the short single page list of common commands.

That’s like trying to learn about Java from decoding the error messages.

So go to TutorialsPoint dot com and their free SQL lessons. It has everything from an overview of databases and RDBMS to SQL syntax to joining databases to build queries that scan several databases and organize the answers.

That’s pretty much what I need to know to get paid well enough to afford the Microsoft SQL exams.

The Beginner-SQL-Tutorial dot com has as much hand holding as TutorialsPoint for explaining the various SQL commands you could use. It has links to free IT books too, though I cannot say how dated they are.

Compared to the age of the SQL for stupid people books in the library, it is just fine.
