The Witcher Review & Analysis
In this video, we take a close look at The Witcher 1 (2007) — the first entry of the incredible Witcher trilogy. At the time of its release, CD Projekt RED was not the triple-A studio it is today. They were a small-to-mid-sized Polish developer, so it shouldn't surprise you that the game isn't perfect. Its combat is clunky, its presentation is spotty, and the lack of fast travel can be frustrating without a speed mod for Geralt (linked below).
But there's something about this game. You can tell it was made by talented people who were passionate about the world they were creating. And they did one hell of a job.
After my 60+ hours with this game, I can confidently recommend you give the game a try. If you can look past the rough edges, you're going to be in for one amazing ride.
Is it perfect? No. Do you need to play it before you give The Witcher 3 a go? I don't think so. But it's a damn good game that does a great job introducing you to Geralt's universe and will have you remembering Vizima for the rest of your life.
