How To Install Sublime Text on Mac OS X
We are moving along in our Python tutorials and now we are going to need a way to write programs other than the Python interpreter. One of my favorite text editors is Sublime text which is free so in this tutorial we are going to look at how to install Sublime Text on Mac OS X. You can use any text editor if you have a favorite that is fine just make sure it is easy to use and will not get in the way of your learning. If you choose to use Sublime Text as your text editor for Python follow along with the rest of this tutorial and I will show you how to properly set up the text editor on your Mac.

Step 1 - We need to visit Sublime Text official website to download our version of Sublime Text - http://sublimetext.com
Step 2 - When you are on Sublime Text's official website click on download on the main menu.

Step 3 - We are going to download and utilize Sublime Text 3 which is still in beta and has been for sometime but I have been using it for a while and it is stable. Sublime Text 3 is the future for this text editor so we are going to take advantage of this editor. Click on Sublime Text 3 about three lines down on the download page.

Step 4 - Click on OS X to begin the download.

Step 5 - Locate your download which is probably located in your downloads folder. Once the folder is located open the folder.

Step 6 - Once a window opens that shows your applications folder and the Sublime Text logo slide the logo into your applications folder.

Step 7 - Open your applications folder and locate Sublime Text and click on it to open the text editor.

Step 8 - Now in later tutorials we will be using the text editor often so I suggest that you add the editor to your dock. To do this right click on Sublime Text and select options - keep in dock.

Now there are several good text editors out there and you may use anyone you choose. When programming its important to understand how to use the text editor as well as the programming language you are coding in. In future tutorials, I may refer to doing something on Sublime Text that you may not be able to do on a different text editor or steps may not be the same. I suggest that you play with the text editor of your choice and attempt to learn how it works and functions. We do not want to be learning Python and how to use text editor at the same time that can become overwhelming.
