17RSE Beep Code

This is a video of the beep code for my Dell 17RSE (7720) laptop that I'm currently having audio issues with (crackling/hiss noise that occurs at system boot or resume from sleep/hibernation.

I'm working with Dell technicians to troubleshoot the problem and I'll share the journey with you and let you know once they find a solution.

This sound only occurs:

a. When the machine has cooled off to close to room temperature.
(The noise seems more pronounced when the ambient temperature of the room is cooler.)

AND

b. When the power supply is connected. I've booted the machine both with the power supply and without out it and the sound is absent when the computer is booted on battery power only. It will then Crackle/Hiss after this battery only boot if I then reattach the power supply cord).

Prior troubleshooting/repair steps already taken to date without success:

1. Bios update to A15

2. Speakers were replaced by an on site Dell authorized technician.

3. All audio Drivers Uninstalled (Including Bluetooth driver), then I downloaded and installed the new driver from the support.dell.com site as directed by a Dell tech.


This problem came with the machine and was there the first time I booted it. I did some online research at the time and didn't see much about it, and as I needed to immediately use the machine, decided to give it some time and perhaps others with the issue would find the solution and post it.

The Dell tech support team is working with me to resolve the issue. The speakers have been replaced under warranty by an on-site Dell Tech, but the problem persists.
