back in 2016 i first began contemplating a pokémon xy version of this video. however i had no faith in my skills to pull it off… in august of this year i was reminded of this project i'd never really worked on… and got to work. it proved a lot more difficult than i expected, though some of it was due to me hand-waving some of the process by telling myself i'd fix it "later". the editing was mostly mind numbing because i had to rely entirely on time codes from the original video… i think it was worth it in the end, though!

⚠️ very quick pre-emptive faq:

▪️ why was (character) not included?
honestly mostly because drawing frames for more characters would have taken way longer than i was willing to put into this… but also i wanted the focus of the video to be on team flare and the main characters. i didn't include malva because i couldn't figure out where to put her… ?

▫️ how long did this take?
i'd say more than forty maybe fifty hours total but i don't track how long i take each day so i can't say for sure. i started sketching stuff back in august but kind of slacked off until september rolled around.

▪️ what's the song about?
it's open to interpretation, but personally i like to think it's about trying to remember a person who didn't turn out to be the way you thought they were. maybe at the end of the song the singer comes to that realization as they remember "the name"... but who knows!

▫️ why pokémon xy?
because i love pokémon xy and have diligently created something every year for its anniversary, of varying complexity (the very first "serious" comic of more than one page i ever drew was for the first anniversary!) i don't think i'm going to be able to top this one but maybe i'll think of something good for the 10th lol ?
