Python Future prices, WITS API & My Electricity Bill

In my previous video I demonstrated how to use Python for data Analytics to predict whether my next bill would be higher or lower than the bill I just received based on historical data of final Spot prices of the Electricity Wholesale prices. In this video I use the WITS (Wholesale Information Trading System)- -https://www2.electricityinfo.co.nz to see what the PRS (Price Responsive Schedule) and The WDS (Weekly Dispach Schedule) are as well as the RTD (Real Time Dispatch) prices are for overnight prices until 5am.
I make API calls after getting the Bearer Token and put them into a combined CSV.
I then create a plot with python Matplotlib for this data and create a CSV file from the data and then email this PDF to myself daily- Refer to this article “Python Future prices, WITS API & My Electricity Bill- https://cr8ive.tk/?p=9566” for the process.
I then trigger these scripts using task Scheduler to run early in the morning so each day I can see what the future scheduled rates are likely to be.
From this information I’m able to change my power usage for the day to try and minimise costs.
I could also do a long range forecast (a week) to see what the power generator suppliers are predicting the load to be based on historic data.

I found BING CHAT particularly helpful when adding lots of features to the matplotlib plot. This definitely sped up the enhancements to the plot features that would have taken me a lot longer to do if I’d just searched for methods on the interwongle.
