The Bad Stuff | GoPro Hero9 Black

2-week review and a chat about some of the bad points of the GoPro Hero 9 Black. I'm not saying this is a bad camera, but these are some of the niggles I have spotted after a few weeks of use.

Please don't view this as a negative video. I stress again that this is not a bad product. There's a lot to like and, if you accept or can disregard these points, you know you're going to be happy! GoPro action cameras are still the best in class and have a premium price for a reason. I'll be doing more testing on the camera over the coming month or two and may find that I learn to love it a little more than I do now.

I personally feel that, unless you need that front screen (which I do), you'd be better off going with the Hero 8 Black (https://geni.us/gp8black). Save £100 and put it towards accessories to allow you to create better footage or a couple of spare batteries. You'll need them.

Expanding on the comments on battery life, I was at 90% and filmed a 30-minute ride at 4K 60p at which point the battery had 32% remaining. In my opinion, this is poor. Realistically, you're not going to get much more than 1 hour of filming from a full charge.

Let's have a look at the full specs of this camera. When you read these, you see what a powerful little beast this is and that you may forgive some of its failings. I've also added a few little comments of my own in brackets after some of the specs.

• Voice control with 14 commands in 11 languages + 6 accents (very useful)
• 3 microphones with advanced wind-noise reduction
• Stereo + RAW audio
• Larger speaker for improved audio playback
• Removable lens cover
• Built-in folding mounting fingers (swings and roundabouts)
• Rugged + waterproof to 33ft (10m)
• Compatible with Max Lens Mod, Light Mod, Display Mod and Media Mod for HERO9 Black
