If it's one series where people have been begging for a localization, it's this one. These games are pretty old - the first one even came out over ten years ago, and the latter two titles were originally designed for portable systems, hence the sprite-styled 2D graphics.
A LOT of people were turned off by these graphics - all I can say is that you'll like this one if you liked narrative-based turned-based JRPGs such as Grandia. This title in particular has a lot of optional "doors" where you can view substories for characters, and they're amazingly detailed and expand the plot significantly.
I can see why localization was difficult - this game has some of the most lines of dialogues of any game I've seen, and I've played many JRPGs like this on my PS1 decades ago. The fact that each chest has its own dialogue is extremely impressive, and this game has a lot of little easter eggs. The translators really had fun working on this one.
Great work to both the original developers and the translators, this was a really fun game to play through!
