Odesskaya (Ukrainian violin lesson)

Odesskaya is a Ukrainian klezmer fiddle tune from Odessa. This was a great centre of Jewish culture in the 19th Century, and there are many excellent klezmer fiddle tunes from Odessa. In this lesson I demonstrate the basic melody, and then look at violin ornamentation to enrich the tune, such as double stops and drones to emphasise the chord changes, and klezmer ornaments such as the glissando and krekhts.
