Tf2 with ps3 controller

*READ THIS ONLY IF YOU CORRECTLY ENABLED YOUR CONTROLLER IN TF2 AND YOU DO NOT LIKE THE DEFAULT CONTROLS*

So you're obviously reading this because you don't like the way how the default controls are configured and you want to change them to the way you prefer them. If you want to know how, here are the instructions :D

1. Once you use the "exec 360controller" command, go to your Options.

2. Go to your Keyboard options, and select the control that you want to change.
(EXAMPLE: Reload weapon)

3. When playing TF2 with its default controls (for the gamepad), you press the Circle button on your PS3 controller (which would be "B" on an Xbox 360 controller) to reload. However, if you want to change it and make it reload by pressing the Square button, you press on Edit Key, press on the Square button, and voila! You can now reload by pressing the Square button instead of the Circle Button! :3

...So yeah. That's about it.

So apparently, some people have commented here, saying that they are getting a problem where their DS3 Tool isn't detecting their PS3 Controller. Apparently, here's all I can say as to why it's not working for you:

1. You're not using an official Dualshock 3 PS3 controller.

...That's about it XD

However, there may be another reason:

When you connect your PS3 controller for the first time, Windows MAY POSSIBLY (I'm not saying it WILL) install the software for it or whatever the hell it does, since you're connecting it to your PC for the first time. If you do this while DS3 Tool is open, it may cause problems and the program won't detect your controller.

You can fix this problem by:
1. Connecting your PS3 controller to your PC (NOTE: DO NOT OPEN DS3 TOOL WHILE DOING THIS)

2. Let Windows install the software for it or whatever the hell it does

3. Once it's done installing and shit, you can finally open DS3 Tool and let it detect your controller. If it's not working, then disconnect your controller and re-connect it (NOTE: IF YOU'RE GOING TO DISCONNECT YOUR CONTROLLER AND RE-CONNECT IT, MAKE SURE YOUR PS3 IS DISCONNECTED)

If you ARE using an official Dualshock 3 PS3 controller and it's STILL not working, then I advise you to un-install your current version of DS3 Tool and download another one.

Here is a tutorial on playing Team Fortress 2 with a PS3 controller.

Also, there are 5 things I forgot to mention in the video:

1. By doing the same steps shown in this video, you can be able to play other Valve games (that use the Source engine) with the PS3 controller (Left 4 Dead, Half-Life 2, Portal, etc.)

2. At 1:30, after you enable the PS3 controller and click on Vibration Testing, you have to leave the option on "Xbox 360 Controller". After that, you also have to minimize the DS3 Tool and leave it there. DO NOT CLOSE IT IF YOU WANT TO PLAY TF2 WITH THE PS3 CONTROLLER.

3. I wouldn't recommend playing TF2 with your mouse and keyboard (with "exec 360controller" still enabled), as some commands won't respond and work. For example, playing with a mouse and keyboard while the command is still on won't allow you to destroy buildings (Engineer) once you've built them. So to undo the command, type in the Developer Console "exec undo360controller".

4. One control I forgot to mention is that if you press L3, you crouch.

5. If you want to change the sensitivity for your PS3 controller, open "Options" in TF2, go to "Keyboard", and below, you'll be able to change the sensitivity for your controller
