SpaceX Starship Needs Fixing, Raptor Engine Upgrades, SLS Launchpad Repairs & More! Due to a week of relentless rain and bad weather at Starbase, SpaceX was forced to suspend all Starship pre-launch testing scheduled for the last few weeks. Let's examine the recent upgrades to the Starbase launch site and the modifications SpaceX has made to Starship 24. In the interim, Starship teams utilized this time to refurbish the launch site in preparation for the forthcoming static fire test of 33 engines.

When the rain stopped falling on Wednesday, the lab Padre cameras captured a new tent being erected adjacent to the Starship orbital launch Tower. The tent was constructed to aid in the refurbishment of the launch pad and tower. During the static fire test of the 14-engine booster 7 on November 14, minimal damage was sustained by the orbital launch pad. As a result of the engine exhaust's tremendous heat and pressure, the test caused the concrete beneath the orbital launch Mount to explode and fall to the ground. SpaceX is now reinforcing the concrete to prevent damage during upcoming testing and flights. To shelter the floor beneath the pad from engine exhaust, the company is utilizing fondag concrete, which is highly strong and resistant. It is a dry-mixed concrete specifically designed to withstand extreme environmental conditions, including high temperatures, frequent thermal shocks, abrasion, erosion, mechanical impact, and chemical corrosion.
