Cloud-Native Developer Workflows with Docker Containers

We all use many of the same tools when building applications with containers; Docker Desktop provides a straightforward Docker container and Kubernetes environment, `docker build` and Dockerfile provide tools for building container images, and Compose or Kubernetes configuration allows for describing the components of our application. However, how we actually integrate these together with other tools into an end-to-end workflow can vary dramatically.

In this talk we will:
- Show what we mean by workflow, and identify common patterns and practices
- Explore how the interface used (CLI, GUI or IDE) is orthogonal to the higher-level concepts of workflow
- Investigate the different types of testing we put our applications and images through, and how that fits into the development process
- Look at how continuous integration and source control tie an individual’s workflow into that of a wider team
- Discuss the benefits of a more opinionated workflow, as well as look at the power of composable tooling
- Show lots of demos and experiments along the way

Attendees should come away with lots of ideas for standardising developer workflows with Docker containers, along with a clear understanding of both the benefits and pitfalls.

We'll also showcase several new tools for working with Docker containers, along with integrations with tools you already know and use every day.
