Mutable Instruments Braids Models

The modular way of listening to all the different Braids models.

I will upload a different version (patch) with proper audio later. This one comes complete with awesome cell phone audio, cuckoo clock in the background, and a barking dog (which required me to check the door).

Lazy modular patch notes below...."lazy" because I didn't want to manually cycle through each Braids model and sweep the timbre, color, and also send triggers...and let's face it, making patches is much more fun.

All modules used Mutable Instruments. I had some MIDI going into Yarns for something else so I left it patched in. Yarns midi clock and start to Tides, bars set to 16 which triggers the Tides envelope, clock to Grids as well. Tides uni out to FM on Braids, sending a slow wave that is triggered per above. Braids is in meta mode which allows you to cycle through the synthesis models with the FM knob. The wave will basically cycle Braids through every model beginning to end and then start over again. Peaks has two LFOs going into Braids, one into timbre and one into color...this sweeps both parameters bottom to top, the color sweeps twice as fast so you can hear it with different timbers. Some models require a trigger, so I take a gate out of Grids to trigger on Braids. I also take a gate out of Grids into Branches, which then goes into Streams. Streams is set to vactrol mode with an output going into Tides freeze. This essentially freezes the wave periodically (halting the cycle on Braids) which allows you to hear the timbre and color sweeps better on that model.
