How To Play Minecraft Split Screen On Java Using Forge 1.12.2 Mods With Controllers

In this video, I'm going to show you how to play split screen multiplayer in Minecraft 1.12.2 using one account. This will be similar to playing on console but in Java Edition on PC.
Multiple monitors are recommended for full enjoyment but not required.

First, download Minecraft Forge

Download Recommended Installer for 1.12.2

Press Skip in the top right corner and wait for the file to download.

Double click to start the installer.

Install client and make sure the directory is to the .minecraft folder in AppData.

Let it download and wait for a pop up to confirm it was successful.

Play the forge installation and allow it to download all files and open completely.

Close down Minecraft and continue to the next step.

Go to your user folder (my case is User 2). Click View and make sure Hidden Items are shown.

Go to AppData - Roaming - .minecraft - versions.

Look for the version of forge that you just downloaded and make a copy of it.

Change the name of the folder. For example, add "Guest" at the end. Repeat for the two files in this folder.

Open the JSON file.

Change the "id" to the same name.

Change the ${auth_player_name} to Guest or any name you want.

Save and close.

Open Minecraft. Go to "Installations", "New", then name it something you'll remember, find your Forge Guest release, and "Create".

Now we will need a mod for controller support.

Download Controllable for 1.12.2 version.

Take this file and move it to the mods folder.

Now we are ready to open the Minecraft Launcher.

Open the Forge version (this will be player one).

Open the Minecraft Launcher again. This time opening the Forge Guest version (this will be player two).

I'm using my "Window Resize Tool" script to automatically resize the windows.

On player 1, pause the game and click "Open to LAN" then "Start LAN World"

On player 2, go to Multiplayer and join the LAN World when it pops up.

Make sure to plug in both controllers.

Go to "Options" and click on the controller symbol.

Select a different controller for each game.

Click on Settings for both games and make sure Virtual Mouse is ON.

Now we can start a game for the two players to join.

Both games will probably have to press F3+P to disable the game from pausing when you click out of the game.

Now you're all set to play the game split screen with two players.
