Troubleshoot Memory 2
You work at a computer repair store. A customer brings in a computer and tells you that the screen remains blank and beeps several times upon powering on. You suspect that some of the memory may be bad, and you have decided to test and replace the memory if needed. Upon inspection, you find that the computer currently has four 8-GB memory modules for a total of 32 GB of memory (32,768 MB). You need to diagnose and correct the problem.
In this lab, your task is to complete the following:
Use the memory tester to identify which, if any, of the installed memory modules are faulty.
Place any non-working memory modules on the Shelf.
Install working 32-GB modules as needed.
Make sure the memory modules are working before installing them.
After you install the memory, boot the computer in to the BIOS setup and verify that the correct amount of memory is detected.
When you select a memory module or place it on the Shelf, the name of the module identifies its original position in the computer or on the Shelf when the lab first starts. You can use this name to help differentiate between memory modules.
Examples: DIMM_S2 means shelf memory module 2. DIMM_B1 means the memory module came from bank (slot) 1.
