2. **Sort**: Once the sublists contain only one element each, the merging process begins. The sublists are repeatedly merged in a sorted manner to produce new sorted sublists. The merging process continues until there is only one sorted sublist remaining, which will be the sorted version of the original list.

3. **Merge**: To merge two sorted sublists, start comparing the elements at the beginning of each sublist. Take the smaller element and place it into a new merged sublist. Then, move the pointer in the respective sublist forward. Repeat this process until one of the sublists is fully merged.

4. **Final Merge**: If one sublist becomes empty before the other, the remaining elements in the other sublist are added directly to the merged sublist since they are already sorted.
