python00b: A Journey to Learning Python - Episode 4 - Data Structures and another assignment

I decided long ago that I wanted to teach myself a programming language, specifically Python, to eventually become capable of developing groundwater models. I purchased a book and have finally took the initiative to learn the basics. This journey will take us through the basics, but will eventually evolve into more advanced techniques as I learn and develop skills in Python. After this book, the plan is to dig into courses and tutorials from Udemy, github, automatetheboringstuff, and kaggle. This series should end up being significantly long. I hope you can learn with me on this journey to adding Python to our toolbelt!

In this episode, we tackle Data Structures, which includes lists, arrays, tupules, and dictionaries. Lists are collects of data and items, which can be set to one variable. Lists are convenient because they offer quick and easy storage and retrieval of items. We only briefly cover arrays, but will eventually go deeper into arrays later in the series. An array is a list of indexed items. Tupules are lists that have contents that cannot be modified. Dictionaries hold data that can be retrieved with reference items or keys. We also tackle an assignment where we establish a list, alter it with the append and remove functions, set a dictionary with the appropriate keys, and print it off. I will practice more with this assignment and include it within Episode 5, as I need more practice with it.
