Basic Power Chord Review

A5, C5, D5 and E5 are reviewed for the beginning to intermediate guitar player. Also played is the D#5/Eb5 chord. Same thing as far as I'm concerned but a music major would be sure to tell you why I am mistaken about that.

I am a bar scum musician and go more by sound and feeling but can read music well enough to fake my way through a few things.

Make sure you spend a lot of time with your basic power chords. I'm sorry if I am always changing the plan but guitar teachers assume everyone knows the power chords and often skip talking about them because it's so obvious they are the main foundation of rock guitar. We assume you are already playing these until you are bored with them, but the truth is a lot of my students act shocked when I bring up power chords. As in "you mean I'm supposed to practice this?". Uh, yes, this is a pretty big part of rock. Please play along with me and get the feeling for power chords hard wired into your fingers, hands, arms, shoulders, ears and brains. Jump around and play them in front of the mirror in your underwear. I do every day! Make sure to do some special poses and practice your rock look.
