In this tutorial, let us learn how to sum across multiple sheets in MS Excel

How to add cells from different sheets in Microsoft Excel, in an easier way. i.e. Data consolidation.

For example, consider a scenario where you want a formula that will give you the sum, totaling from the same cell address in multiple sheets in a workbook.

Let us take an example to add the same cell addresses from different sheets:
We have 5 sheets named as AP, KA, KL, TN & TG.
• Let's have a number "10" In cell A1 in all the sheets.
• Let us have a summary sheet.
• If we want the sum of all the A1 cells from all the sheets, the general way is to enter the formula as = pick A1 from first sheet+ A1 from 2nd sheet+ A1 from 3rd sheet.....like that you have to do till the last reference. What if, if we have some 100 sheets??
• Do you want to waste time by entering a lengthy formula?
• To save time, here is the small trick for you.
• We can put the formula in the summary sheet in any cell as =SUM(
• Select the tab for the first sheet AP.
• Hold the shift key, click the A1 cell in the first sheet and select the tab for the last sheet, TG and click on cell A1 for which you want to take a sum.
• The formula would be =SUM(AP:TG!A1)
• Then press Enter. We will get the total from cells in all the sheets as 50.
