"Dutton-Lainson couplers have a number of features that make them safer and more durable, starting with the TUFFPLATE finish found on all of our plated products. Our in-house salt spray tests confirm that it has three times the corrosion resistance of standard zinc plating.

D-L couplers' full width ball clamp allows more of the clamp's surface area to contact the hitch ball, which reduces the wear on both.

Our patented ball clamp also makes mis-coupling obvious by forcing the coupler to sit much higher on top of the ball. This also makes it virtually impossible to tow when the coupler is not fully engaged.

Our nut-locking channel and free running nut allows for tools-free adjustment. Not only does this make the process of adjusting the coupler simpler and more convenient, it also increases the chances that a user will actually adjust the coupler when needed.

We test all of our coupler models both in house and at independent facilities every year. This confirms compliance with all the requirements of the SAE coupler and hitch standard.
