Disable Startup Programs

Hi! Welcome to the Braintek video tutorials. My name’s Greg, owner of Braintek. Have you ever had a bunch of programs that are starting up on your computer annoying you or maybe you just don’t use them anymore – you don’t want them slowing down your machine? Today’s video is just for you. I’m going to show you how to disable those annoying startup programs. Let’s get started. Alright, so we’re just sitting on my desktop and we’re going to come over here to the start menu bar. We’re going to right-click and go to Task Manager. The other method to get to this is you can just press CTRL-ALT-DEL on your screen and click on Task Manager. Task Manager comes up and you’ll notice the ‘Startup’ tab up here at the top. Here, it shows us all the different programs that are currently starting on this particular computer. You’ll notice there’s a column for status that says they are enabled or disabled and what we can do is let’s say we don’t want this thing called “IDrive” – I don’t know what that is so we’re going to set this to Disabled. Now the next time I startup my computer, that item will not startup. When you’re done, just close out the Task Manager, but go through the list. Find some stuff that you don’t need running on your computer and this will help improve the performance on your computer during startup and throughout its day.
