How to install Java : How to install IntelliJ : How to create Hello World program in Java

In this video, I am going to explain about,
1. How to install Java,
2. How to install Intellij, and
3. How to create and test a simple “HelloWorld” program

1. How to install Java
i)Go to google.com and type “download java”.
ii)Scroll down to the second listing where it says “Java downloads” from the oracle website.
iii)Click “JDK download” option.

This takes you to the JDK download page.
iv)Accept the license agreement.
Now we are presented with various application exe files for different operating systems.
v)For “windows” operating system there are 2 options. One is x86, which is for the 32 bit operating systems. x64 for 64-bit operating system.
Click appropriate exe file

On the bottom left corner of the browser, you can see the download status of application exe file.

vi) Clicking on the downloaded jdk exe file.

This gives us a set up wizard to download java.
vii)Click “next”.
Let’s stick to the defaults and click “next”.

viii)Once the installation is completed Click the “close” button.

We can verify the java installation by going to the command prompt. On the command prompt, type java hyphen version. to verify if java is installed properly.

2. How to install IntelliJ

i)Go to google and type “install intellj”.
ii)The first website is the jetbrains website, which takes us to the “intellij install” page.

iii) Here we are presented with 2 options. One is the “ultimate”, which is paid edition. The other is community edition which is free and open source. Let’s go ahead and click the “community” edition. Now again on bottom left corner of the browser, you can see the download status of Intellij.

iv)Once the download is completed, Go to the “downloads” folder and click the Intellij exe file.
v)This will take us to the set-up wizard. We will keep clicking next and go with default options. Click 64-bit launcher, since the system is 64-bit operating system.
vi)Click install.
vii)Click “finish”.

Intellij gives 2 different UI scheme. Select the one which you like most.
viii) Keep clicking next button. This will launch out intellij IDE.
