Wordpress Tutorial | SEO Categories

In this specific Wordpress tutorial video, you're going to learn how to create search engine friendly, categories.
Now, while this may seem like common sense, this is often something that people miss.
This is because it's very easy to create a post, and to create a title, and then your keyword to the title into the permalinks, and to the body and simply click on update.
However in this case, for every single post, and I want you to get into the mindset that every single post and every single page - needs a category.
If you can put it into the right category, when people come to your site, not only will they find a category that they're interested in, and all the content that is within that category.
Google will also come to your site, or yahoo, or any other search engine - and they're going to see a category.
And then, they go look at the category and they see all this content that is related to that category.
So, what you want to do, is create categories and using what I've taught you in the previous videos about keyword research and keyword site layout - use those to create your category.
So, for example, this post here is about funny tees or funny t-shirts.
What kind of category could this fall under?
For example, it's funny tees and yellow smiley funny t-shirt, so I could say:
Yellow smiley funny tees, and
pictures of yellow smiley funny tees
and at this point, you can think to yourself "okay this would fall under perhaps, cartoons"
so, if we go down here and look at the categories and click on Add New Category
we can put this as "cartoon"
click on Add New Category
and if we are trying to rank on "funny tees cartoons" / "cartoon funny tees" then, that will help our rank as we begin to create categories that relate to keywords that we're trying to rank on.
Now, this seems very simple and easy, but just to get in the mindset of - every post that you create, every page that you create - add it to a specific category.
Don't add it to two different categories, but add it to a specific category, the best category that you can add it to. And that's it!

So now when google comes to your site, they can see your URL, they look at your permalinks, and they see the categories, and the post or the page that they fall under, and they can see the keywords that you're trying to rank on or categorize into - and you get better search engine friendly categories.
