How to split windows in Blender | Blender 4.1 Tutorial

Welcome back to NextGenBlogger and in this video, I want to show you how to split windows in Blender. Now it's actually super easy to split windows in Blender. So without further delay, let's get started and see how you can do this.

Now to demonstrate this, I've already opened up the Blender software. And as you can see, right now we just have a single window open and that is this 3D Viewport window. Now let's say I want to add another window. So to add another window, you need to first split this 3D Viewport window in two parts. Now to split this 3D Viewport window, you need to first bring your cursor down here. Next you need to right click and now you need to select whether you want to do a 'Vertical Split' or a 'Horizontal Split'. So let's say I want to do a 'Vertical Split'. So let me select the 'Vertical Split' option. Next you need to move your mouse in that particular area roughly where you want this split to happen. So let's say I want this split to happen in this particular area. So accordingly, I have moved my mouse right here. Next you need to make a single left click on your mouse. And as you can see, we have successfully split the 3D Viewport window in two parts.

Now by default, the window which got created on the right hand side is an exact replica of the window which we just split. So to change this, you need to click on this option that is 'Editor Type'. And now you can select any window that you want on the right hand side. So let's say I want the 'Properties' window. So let me select the 'Properties option. And as you can see, the 'Properties' window appeared on the right hand side. So this is how you can actually split windows in Blender.

Now let me also show you how you can do a 'Horizontal Split'. So once again, bring your cursor down here, right click and now select the 'Horizontal Split' option. Now select the area where you want this split to happen and make a single left click on your mouse. Next, go to 'Editor Type' and select the window that you want. So let's say this time I want the 'Timeline' window. So let me select the 'Timeline' option. And as you can see, the 'Timeline' window appears right at the bottom. So this is how you can split windows in Blender.
